How to remove quick add on Snapchat?

enlever ajout rapide snap

The Quick Add feature on Snapchat was designed to facilitate connections. It works like an automatic suggestion system, displaying profiles you might know. These recommendations are not random: they come from an internal algorithm that relies on several data points:

  • Synchronized phone contacts with your Snapchat account.
  • Your mutual friends with other users.
  • The Snapchat groups you have participated in.
  • Your location (if permission is enabled).
  • The global search settings, especially if someone has viewed your Snapcode or typed a name similar to yours.

As a result, your profile may appear to users you don’t directly know, which can pose privacy or comfort issues, especially if you prefer to keep a small circle of contacts.

Why disabling Quick Add can be useful?

From a technical and personal standpoint, disabling Quick Add offers several concrete advantages:

  • Reduce the visibility of your account to unwanted acquaintances or strangers.
  • Avoid appearing in the suggestions of contacts of people you haven’t chosen.
  • Better control how Snapchat uses your contact and network data.
  • Limit repeated solicitations by users who simply found your profile via an automatic suggestion.
  • Prevent your presence in shared lists by other users (especially useful for secondary or professional accounts).

It is important to note that this feature is enabled by default, without explicit validation request during registration.

Steps to remove Quick Add suggestions

Here is the process to disable this option from the Snapchat app:

1. Open account settings

Launch Snapchat, then click on your avatar (Bitmoji or white silhouette) at the top left of the screen.

2. Access settings

Tap on the gear icon (at the top right) to open your profile settings.

3. Modify visibility options

In the “Who can…” section, select “See me in Quick Add”.

Once in this menu, you will see a box checked by default. Simply disable this option by unchecking the box. From that moment, Snapchat will no longer suggest your profile in automatic Quick Add suggestions.

Remove access to phone contacts

Even if you disable Quick Add, Snapchat can continue to use your contacts if synchronization is enabled. To go further:

  1. Return to Snapchat settings.
  2. Go to “Manage” > “Synchronized Contacts”.
  3. Delete already synchronized data.
  4. Disable the synchronization option to block future access to your address book.

Tip: You can also check in your Android or iOS system settings if Snapchat still has permission to access your contacts, and revoke this permission.

Control who can add or contact you

To complete the deactivation of Quick Add, consider adjusting these settings:

  • Who can add you: choose the “My Friends” option instead of “Everyone” in the “Contact” section.
  • Who can send you a Snap or call you: also limit to “Friends” to avoid unsolicited messages.
  • Who can see your Story: set your Stories as private or visible only to a custom list.
  • Prevent adding via Snapcode: even if your Snapcode is public, you can block unwanted requests via the “Block users” section.

What to do if you continue to receive suggestions?

Sometimes, even after disabling Quick Add, some users may still see your account in exceptional circumstances:

  • If you appear in a common group.
  • If your Snapchat username is very similar to another or is typed manually.
  • If the user is using an older version of Snapchat, the removal of suggestions may take a little time to propagate.

In this case, the most effective solution is to block the user or hide your profile using additional privacy settings.
